USB-to-Serial Converter
USB-to-Serial Converter Driver Download:
Known Technical Issues:
Language Issues with Liberty Basic complier.
NOTE: There is a known compatiblity issue running the IFW Control program
on computers set for Chinese, Korean and Japanese localization. Optec recommends
the default language be set for ENGLISH when operating IFW Control.
USB-to-Serial Converter Issues.
NOTE: If a
native COM port is not available on the control computer, a USB-to-serial converter
may be used. To maintain compatiblity with the older IFW
Control program, Optec recommends a converter based on the FTDI
chipset.
Compatibility Issues with Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1
NOTE: Due to an incompatiblity issue involving user rights with
Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.1 the user may see a complier error
stating "Handles closed by Liberty Basic". The error
arises when the control program attempts to write to a configuration
file located where the user may not have full administrative rights.
This issue only concerns the older IFW program and can be avoided by
setting the current user with full administrative rights.
Alternatively, the IFW program may be installed directly to the
user's desktop (or copied from the default install folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Optec\IFW Control). Run the IFW.exe program directly from this
desktop folder to avoid the complier error.
Contact Optec Technical
Support if the problem persists.
NOTE: Microsoft discontinued providing WinHlp32.exe with Vista.
The IFW Control program of the Optec programs still use this older version of help and
may require this file be added back into the operating system.
